Amazon CloudWatch Logs
Where Lambda writes its stdout, stderr and per-invocation reports without any configuration. The default answer to why a function failed, and the reason an unconfigured retention policy quietly accrues cost.
Limits
Maximum log event size is 1,024 KB and cannot be increased
Maximum batch size for a PutLogEvents request is 1 MB
PutLogEvents is throttled at 5,000 requests per second per account per Region by default
A log group can hold at most 5 subscription filters (2 in il-central-1) and 100 metric filters
Pricing model
Per GB ingested, plus per GB-month of stored logs, plus charges for querying. Log groups default to never expiring, so storage cost grows without limit until a retention policy is set — the most common avoidable bill on a serverless pipeline.
